Dr. Merah

Dr. Merah Burke served as Coordinator of Professional Development Schools and Field Services and Professor for six years at Coppin State University (CSU) in Baltimore Maryland. She migrated to Baltimore, Maryland in 1976 to pursue higher education. Dr. Merah is a graduate of Morgan State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry and pre-Pharmacy and a doctoral degree in Science Education. Dr. Merah also earned a Master of Divinity degree from Howard University and a Master of Arts degree in Administration and Supervision from Loyola University. She was awarded the State of Maryland Governor’s Citation for outstanding contribution in Mathematics, Science, and Technology.

Dr. Merah is a Certified Professional and Tenured Educator. While completing over 36 years in Education as a coordinator of Professional Development Schools and Field Services, university supervisor of teachers, adjunct professor, mentor teacher/trainer, secondary teacher, test-coordinator, PDS site coordinator, and building staff development coordinator, she gained extensive supervisory experience in managing and interacting in diverse capacities with different people. Through these experiences, she learned to balance the role of mentor-teacher, peer-relationship, and administrative duties. Dr. Merah also developed a sense of efficiency and healthy self-discipline in her organizational endeavors.

Her gifts include teaching, planning, administration, leadership, and mentoring. In addition, her extracurricular activities have also taught her the importance of good communication as well as creativity in program development.

​

Dr. Merah has been a wife to Venol since 1981, mother of three young adults, and grandmother of two.
